Farrier/Client Responsibilities
We pride ourselves on having a positive, professional relationship with you, your horse and your facility members. In an effort to provide the best care we can and do our job to a high standard, we ask that horses be ready and prepped for their appointment ahead of your appointment time. This could include removing mud from legs and hooves, applying fly spray or fly boots, perhaps having a horse's pasture mate close by if horse requires company to be comfortable, reserving feed time for before or after appointments, having dogs away from work area, a dry well lit and flat work space out of the elements, providing a safe tying area either on cross ties, single tie or with competent holder, wrapping a hoof that has lost a shoe in order to protect the hoofwall, ensuring bellboots (if needed) are properly fitted between visits, and any other things that your horse would benefit from during their appointment (ie pain meds, exercise beforehand, tranq if required, vet xrays/findings/reccomendations etc) Please do keep an open communication on how your horse has been doing and any improvements or declines experienced as well as any behavioural issues you're aware of. If a horse is behaving in a dangerous manner, alternatives may be required through your vet or trainer.
Should any of the above work conditions not be met, in most cases, work will still continue (unless dangerous) but we may not be able to provide the same high quality. We do understand life, weather and circumstances beyond control can happen, so there is flexibility.
Payments are to be paid promptly. Our operating costs are extremely high so please be prepared to pay invoice on time so we can continue to provide services.
As your farrier, we agree to arrive on time with proper notice should we be running late or early. Its important to us to treat you and your horse with respect and care and we expect the same. We will be upfront with any concerns or recommendations to be aware of during or between visits. Horses all come with different needs that are specific to that individual horse and we will tailor our approach to fit. Whether it be a certain pathology requiring a therapeutic set up or a horse that requires creative positioning due to pain or fear in order to work on them, we strive to find what works for each horse. Our goal is to work closely with you to get the best results for your horse.
Scheduling follow up appointments is done each time (4-8 weeks in length depending on the season and horse's needs) and reminder messages are provided a day or two in advance. We can be reached by phone at 519-755-2813 during business hours (after hours for emergencies or cancellations) or email [email protected]
We thank you for trusting us with your horses and we look forward to continuing working with you for years to come.
